Linguist

All members of Café Lingua are referred to as Linguists. We refer to all our members as Linguists, because all our community members are experts in their own native language. And most have a desire to learn more.

Most traditional English dictionaries will state that a Linguist is "a person accomplished in languages" or a "person who specializes in linguistics." Occasionally we will use this definition of linguist, but the reason why we refer to all of our members as Linguists is because it's a unifying term. We are all in this together. We're all experts in our own language. We can all share our language with others. And likewise we can learn from others. Because language is merely a form of communication and a way to transmit ideas between people and we all have our own forms of communication. And when we choose to be Linguists, we choose to step into another person's shoes, and see from their perspective.
